Elba has something to offer for everyone: Untamed natural landscapes alternating with harmonious lowlands and mountainous areas invite you to hikes, sandy beaches, snorkelling and diving. And those who are interested in the history and culture of Elba will find numerous trails of the past with information on the origin of the island. Today still, many visitors to Elba are primarily interested in Napoleon, who lived here from 1814 to 1815. The two villas in which he resided provide stunning views. As surprising as the diversity of minerals is on Elba, so too is the biodiversity of plants, which take advantage of the varied climatic and soil conditions. In spring the whole of Elba is aglow with flowers: Broom, rosemary, cistus, lavender, mimosa and tree heath make up a colourful scene; flowering macchia fills the entire island with a tantalising scent.
Capoliveri is the largest village on the peninsula and at the same time the only mountain village that has opened its doors to tourists. Shopping alleys, restaurants and a large piazza with pubs and ice cream parlours shape the scenery. The city was established by the Romans, and its name derives from "Caput liberum" (free person): Offenders who in times gone by succeeded in reaching Capoliveri regained their freedom.
A large number of smaller beaches are available for those who would like to swim in the region.
In one of the most romantic beaches you find our Hotel Antares.
